The opening of the Musical Lyceum attached to Novosibirsk State Conservatoire in 1992 made the Conservatoire an educational institution of a new type, which integrates primary, secondary and higher grades of musical education. This structural subdivision of the Conservatoire is intended for the particularly gifted children, who come not only from various regions of Russia but also from others countries. The duration of training is 11 years. There are such specialities as piano, organ, string, wind and folk instruments. The basis of the training constitutes classical humanitarian education.

As early as their preparatory courses pupils study under the guide of the leading masters of the Conservatoire. Out of 56 teachers of the Lyceum 17 have academic status of a professor, 23 - of an assistant professor. It’s the only one secondary musical school of Russia having such potential. The effectiveness of study is confirmed by the following results:

out of 40 lyceum pupils 32 have become laureates and diplomas possessors of different competitions including international ones. Their skills permit them to continue education at such institution as Mosñow State Conservatoire and Higher Music Schools abroad.
